Route Challenges & Tips

1. Reed Street / Eden Street Roundabout (Steps 2-3)

Challenge: You'll need to take the 3rd exit at the roundabout onto Eden Street, requiring proper lane positioning and signalling.

Tip: Keep signalling right until you pass the 2nd exit, then signal left... checking your mirrors before leaving the roundabout. Eden Street then leads to a long stretch heading out of town.

2. Ardgowan Road / Redcastle Road Rural Section (Steps 4-7)

Challenge: Over 6km of rural roads, transitioning from Eden Street onto Ardgowan Road with speed changes and rural hazards.

Tip: Watch for the speed limit changes between the urban and rural zones. On Redcastle Road, watch for any farm traffic and prepare to turn right onto the busy SH1 – ensuring three is a safe gap before pulling out.

3. State Highway 1 – Thames Street Transition (Steps 8-9)

Challenge: Nearly 5 minutes on SH1 before it becomes Thames Street, with a transition from highway to town centre conditions.

Tip: Keep a look out for the speed limit reduction as you approach town. The signage mentions "Historic Area/Penguin Colony/Hospital" – so be alert for tourists, especially near the precinct.
