Route Challenges & Tips

1. Roscommon Road (Step 3)

Challenge: You'll spend over 5 minutes on Roscommon Road (Route 17), covering nearly 4km. It's a major route through the Wiri industrial area, and connecting to State Highway 20, so expect busy intersections.

Tip: Maintain extra following distance behind any trucks and buses (4 seconds minimum). Watch for vehicles entering from industrial driveways, and be prepared for the roundabout at Weymouth Road.

2. Weymouth Road Section with Roundabouts (Steps 4-5)

Challenge: After the roundabout exit onto Weymouth Road, you'll pass through another roundabout while heading towards Manurewa.

Tip: At the first roundabout, take the 1st exit – signaling left on approach. Stay focused through the second roundabout, and as you enter the residential area, watch for parked cars and pedestrians.

3. Lambie Drive Roundabout (Step 16)

Challenge: You'll encounter a roundabout where you need to take the 2nd exit to stay on Lambie Drive. This is a busy junction near the Manukau area, with traffic heading to/from State Highways 1 and 20.

Tip: For the 2nd exit (continuing straight), you can stay in the left lane. Signal left as you pass the first exit, and watch for traffic entering from all directions.
